Kevin Cherep became the fourth Chief Executive Officer in the 17-year history of The Mission Continues in the fall of 2024. A Navy veteran and experienced nonprofit executive leader, Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the national veteran service organization, which is dedicated to empowering veterans as community-based leaders. 

Kevin joins The Mission Continues after his recent and successful seven-year stint as the CEO of Chicago Youth Centers, where, under his leadership, the organization significantly expanded its impact with its service to the youth of Chicago’s South and West sides. Focusing on building the resilience and wellbeing of the staff, youth, families and communities CYC serves, Kevin and his team championed interventional models for the improvement of mental health and wellness while simultaneously expanding programs.   

Prior to his success at Chicago Youth Centers, Kevin spent two decades serving in successful lead roles in development, marketing, fundraising, and operations for organizations whose missions include global health, humanitarian aid, and poverty. Kevin’s journey of service began in the U.S. Navy as a naval cryptologist, where he developed a deep commitment to service and leadership. His military background provides a valuable perspective that aligns with the experiences of many of The Mission Continues' veteran volunteers. 

Kevin, a graduate of DePaul University, resides in Chicago with his three teenage children and is eager to bring his passion for impact and leadership to The Mission Continues.
